Five major media companies have banded together with OpenAP and the VAB . The goal: create a measurement certification process for emerging cross-platform measurement solutions in advance of the 2024 upfront. Fox, NBCUniversal, Paramount, TelevisaUnivision, and Warner Bros. Peacock handed a season two renewal for “Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin.” Season one, which launched in November, gave the streamer its biggest comedy premiere ever. “We knew fans of the ‘Pitch Perfect’ franchise we’re going to sing the praises of ‘Bumper in Berlin’,” said Susan Rovner, Chairman, Entertainment Content, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming. “Along with our partners at UTV, Megan Amram, Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman crafted an incredibly unique and charming story with new takes on iconic songs.”

On the flip side, Netflix rescinded its season two order for adult animated comedy “Inside Job.” Netflix had announced a sophomore run for the conspiracy theory series in June.

Disney employees working in hybrid fashion are being asked to return to the office four days a week, starting March 1. “In a creative business like ours, nothing can replace the ability to connect, observe, and create with peers that comes from being physically together, nor the opportunity to grow professionally by learning from leaders and mentors,” wrote CEO Bob Iger in a memo to employees. “It is my belief that working together more in-person will benefit the Company’s creativity, culture and our employees’ careers.”

Greg Berlanti has signed a new four-year overall deal with Warner Bros. Television Group for his Greg Berlanti Productions. The new pact continues a relationship between Berlanti Productions and WBTVG that dates back, over two stints, to 2001 and has been renewed multiple times. “Greg is a huge talent, and the impact of his prolific and powerful storytelling on Warner Bros. and audiences, and on our culture, is just ‘wow,’” said David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery. “He began his career with us, and we are incredibly fortunate that he will continue to build and grow our TV studio into the future.”

Netflix won the battle for the rights for a series adaptation of 2017 YA bestseller They Both Die at the End. Entertainment One is the studio; Chris Van Dusen (“Bridgerton”) is writing the pilot script. The show had previously been in development at HBO.

Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit (“Koala Man”) have inked a new joint multi-year overall deal with 20th Television Animation, as well as corporate sib ABC Signature for live-action projects. Under the agreement, Hernandez and Samit will develop, write and produce animated and live-action series through their production company, Hermit House.

The Native American Media Alliance, in partnership with A+E Networks , US Bank and One Small Planet, is accepting applications for the 8th Annual Native American TV Writers Lab. Paramount+ drama “Rabbit Hole” is slated to premiere Sunday, March 26. Kiefer Sutherland (“24”) stars as a master of deception in the world of corporate espionage, who is framed for murder by powerful forces with the ability to influence and control populations.

Former EVP and CFO of ESPN Jim Allegro passed away December 31. He was 88. “His impact on how fans consume sports is significant,” said a statement from ESPN. “A large and engaging presence, he was a man of deep faith and great integrity, and his genuine concern for others was evident – as was his wonderful sense of humor.”

Actor Quinn Redeker died December 20 at age 86. Redeker was best known for his long-term roles on daytime soap operas “The Young and the Restless” and “Days of Our Lives.

Actor Adam Rich died January 7. He was 54. No cause of death was given. Rich is best known for his role as the youngest child on “Eight Is Enough.”
